Part mermaid?

Good morning baby. Check out these legs...
Getting both of your legs down one side of these jammies is a tight fit. You must have worked pretty hard to get them both shimmied in there as it took me some good wrangling to get them out.

This is something you've done many times in your sleep and it always cracks me up. Is it just more comfortable? Does your right leg get lonely? Are you longing for a past life in the sea? Who can say? It's one of the many mysteries that is Lucy B.

So where have I been?

There are so many reasons I haven't had time to write. To name a few...

1. Your newfound mobility
Wow - this changes everything, and I do mean everything. I won't be surprised if I don't get another thing done until your 20. Really women out there, how do you do it?

2. The great cleanse
Both you and I got a horrible stomach bug. We knew you were sick when you woke up with puke down your front and the other stuff filling your jammies all the way up. Poor thing, you must have been miserable. Luckily, you seemed to recover quickly and after only a day you were back to your old self.

I, on the other hand, was reduced to a pile of mushy goo after this one. I don't think my insides have been that clean since I was born. After a couple of days of gastrointestinal fireworks, I was unbelievably weak and only able to stomach things like rice and jello. I really did myself in as I started to feel better and craved bacon. Really. Bad. Idea. That set me back to about 1989. I'm just starting to feel like myself now, two weeks later.

3. Crazy job situation
I'll have to post about it later. Let's just say employment drama has taken it out of me.

4. Dragon boat practices started
I love being on the team but wow, 2-3 practices every week sure squeezes my schedule. Sadly, we have a family reunion over the race days so I have had to quit the team early. I'll be heading down to a few practices here and there though to get some time on the river. Ahhhhh.

5. Mad Men Season 1
Whoa - I am loving this show. We finally got the DVD's from the library after requesting them back when we had a white president (it was a long time ago). So after putting you in bed, we've been traveling back to the 60's era New York by watching this show and I'll tell you what, I am so glad I live in the current day. I don't always appreciate the women's liberation movement but THANK YOU. Really, THANK YOU!! I have found new appreciation for my employment options/suffrage/egalitarian marriage/reproductive rights/education/freedoms/respect/and so much more.

6. Easter
Now, how is it Easter? And how is your birthday only 3 weeks away? I must be in some sort of time warp because I'm still thinking it's January.

7. Good weather
FINALLY. Who can stay indoors when the sun is finally shining. Speaking of which, gotta go...

Easter

We made a quick trip to Utah for Easter. We were busy running around visiting and didn't snap many photos but I managed to capture your first pony ride. Hooray! You loved it - almost as much as you loved hanging out with your cousins. I think you could follow around Oskar all day. And given the chance to go to Millie's, I think you could spend hours finding and pointing at exciting things.

Olivia is 13 and absolutely beautiful. Wow, she is so grown up! I remember so well when she was your size. It's really hard to believe the years have gone by that fast.

Grandma has a fantastic new apartment. We are so happy for her! And happy for us because it still has the same, great pool and lots of room for our visits. My only complaint is that we've been ruined on store-bought bread after eating her fresh, homemade loaves over the weekend. Yum!

We weren't very good house guests though. We left poor grandma with the stomach flu that both you and I have had. If it goes anything like ours, she'll be feeling horrible and surviving on jello for a few days. So sorry mom!

One year ago today: beyond exhaustion

Just looking at this makes me tired. I take back anything nice I ever said about being pregnant.
