Uh oh Houston, we have a climber

Lucy, you've reached the junk drawer, the treat stash, the knives, and just about everything else in the kitchen. Who knew that I would need cabinet locks 6 feet off the ground.

I came back after changing Henry and you wanted me out of there so you could continue your adventures. "Mama needs to go to meetings," you said. "Mama needs to help Henry." Yeah right; I think Mama needs to staple you to the floor. Serenity now.

What the what?

We are all sick with another (!) cold. Dad pulled his shoulder out of socket picking up Lucy. And Henry, for some mysterious reason, spent most of the night fussing and crying, before turning all smiles at 4 am and dropping off like nothing happened. Tag team to Lucy who was up way too early at 6.

Seriously? Are you all trying to find my breaking point? Um, I think this it.

Cute as a bug...

...but a lot more trouble.

Time flies when you are changing diapers having fun

My maternity leave is up this week. I am struggling to believe that 12 weeks have flown by since I've been in the office.

Henry, could you stop growing so fast already?

At 2 days...
And today...

Queen of the house

We got to a late start today as Lucy has a cold and spent most of the day playing princesses and puzzles before running a few short errands in the neighborhood on foot. After our walk, I came in through the front door and saw myself in the mirror for the first time today.

Well, that explains why several people bowed to us on the sidewalk.

It's a zoo over here

Getting out of the house still feels like a major accomplishment. Maybe not as difficult as curing cancer mind you, but possibly more complex than invading a small country. It's hard and there are a lot of moving parts and things to remember - all with a brain that feels like it has been replaced by a can of mushroom soup. The timing is particularly important. Especially if I want to arrive with both children and mom happy with energy to go out the activity of choice.

Today we dared a big one - the Portland Zoo. There is no way I could have managed it by myself but AJ, Janis, and AJ's grandparents met us there. Let's just say all were exhausted by the time we left and it wasn't because of AJ.

There will be no photographic evidence of such outings as my hands are more than full with stroller, baby, keys, diaper, etc. But you can be sure they did indeed happen. Your mother proudly took you to the zoo with a maxi-pad cut in half in her bra because yesterday when she went to the store specifically to get nursing pads, she forgot - you guessed it - nursing pads (sleep deprivation is a cruel mistress indeed).

But here you are, Henry, chilling after our big morning out. What a handsome fellow you are!

What angels look like

I've been putting off a needed dental surgery for years and finally got it over with this week. Thankfully, Millie and Athena came to help while I was down and out and they were in town to celebrate Lucy's birthday. We had a great visit and such a good time.

Millie has always had a magic charm with children and she was fantastic with you both. You are so lucky to have such an amazing aunt. I am so lucky to have such a fun sister.

And Athena is a doll. It's no wonder Lucy is asking "Where's Thena?" every 5 minutest today.

Lucy is 2!!

Happy birthday Lucy! I can't believe you are 2 already!!
It was a great birthday with lots of friends, fun, and food. We celebrated with family on your birthday and had a little party on Saturday. AJ, Rose, and Ronan came with their parents and Athena and Millie were here to celebrate! You got some great gifts including a water table from grandma and a Hunka Munka mouse from Millie that you want to take everywhere. Bruna gave you a little stuffed dog that you named Todo since we've been reading the "Wizard of Oz" a lot lately. I think we started a tradition with giving you pajamas and a new book at bedtime on your birthday.

In the evening, we went to see the "Wizard of Oz" play at Sunnyside Elementary School. What a show!! It was great and you really loved it. We went to the park afterward and you were running around dancing "just like the scarecrow."
